Identity Theft Scam

"NOTICE" The Parker Police Department would like to make our citizens aware of a new Identity Theft Scam that is currently working its way into our city. We have had five cases of Identity Theft come into the Parker Police Department between the end of February and first part of March. All the victims claiming that someone has used their Identity to file their Federal Income Taxes. The offenders have used their names and social security numbers to file and also used their children's social security numbers to file as if it were their own child. In some cases the complainant has not even filed their taxes for the year. The victims are discovering this when they receive a letter from the IRS, CPA or their local tax company that their income tax has already been filed and placed into a bank account. The Parker Police Department is encouraging all citizens to please check with your CPA or local tax company of choice to make sure your information is secure along with your children's information just to be safe and confirm that your information has not been compromised. If you are a victim please contact The Parker Police Department from 8AM to 5PM Monday thru Friday at (972) 442-0333. We ask that you bring all the documentation provided by your CPA, tax office, or other filing institution with you as well as your social security card and current drivers license. If after hours please contact our dispatch at (972) 468-4236 and ask for a Parker Unit.

Better Business Bureau

Always near the top of BBB complaint data are home improvement contractors who often leave your home worse than they found it. They usually knock on your door with a story or a deal – the roofer who can spot some missing shingles on your roof, the paver with some leftover asphalt who can give you a great deal on driveway resealing. Itinerant contractors move around, keeping a step ahead of the law…and angry consumers. The worst are those who move in after a natural disaster, taking advantage of desperate homeowners who need immediate help and may not be as suspicious as they would be under normal circumstances. A large percentage of BBB’s Accredited Businesses are home contractors who want to make sure you know they are legitimate, trustworthy and dependable.
